For requestors from the Parent Study for specimens to be used for the original study protocols.

For sample requestors who have an approved ancillary study. An ancillary study is defined as a study that uses the Parent Study subjects' data and/or biological specimens, but proposes research questions that are not addressed by the Parent Study and /or written into its protocols and procedures. In general, ancillary studies are characterized as being outside the specific scientific objectives of the Parent Study and are funded by a funding mechanism that is separate from the Parent Study funding mechanisms. Ancillary studies must be approved by the parent study.

For sample requestors who are interested in applying for renewable samples (cell lines and whole genome amplified DNA) and clinical data from the NIDDK Repository. There is no need to submit a separate data request if you submit a request for renewable samples. A list of studies with available samples can be found here

BioSample Availability Request
Non-renewable samples are in short supply and NIDDK uses a grant mechanism for reviewing requests for these resources. The process considers the impact that each request has on the study's sample inventory. The Repository's online form allows you to submit your sample requirements to the Repository Staff, who will provide you with a report to include as part of your application for PAR-17-123 or PAR-17-270. Please note that there is no need to submit a separate data request.
