The Cancer Human Biobank (caHUB) is a program derived by the Biorepositories and Biospecimen Research Branch (BBRB) of the National Cancer Institute. This program is designed to carry out specialized biospecimen and data procurements to support biospecimen science activities. The caHUB network includes Biospecimen Source Sites (BSS's), a Comprehensive Biospecimen Resource (CBR), a Comprehensive Data resource (CDR), a pathology Resource center (PRC), and a Molecular Analysis Facilities (MAF).
BioLINCC is the Biologic Specimen and Data Repository Coordinating Center for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood institute (NHLBI). The center coordinates data and biospecimens from NHLBI-funded studies that are available for use in other approved studies. BioLINCC also distributes teaching datasets from NHLBI-funded studies for use in biostatistics training programs.
T1DExchange is a site designed to unite researchers, physicians and patients in real time using information and research data about Type 1 Diabetes. This patient centric website provides many resources including a clinic registry, a clinic network, two biobanks, and an online community for patients and caregivers to help focus research efforts.
The Immunology Database and Analysis Portal (ImmPort) is a web-based resource for data and specimens for immunological research sponsored by the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). This site provides advanced information technology support in the production, analysis, archiving, and exchange of scientific data for researchers supported by NIAID.
The NCI Specimen Resource Locator is a publicly searchable biospecimen resource database designed to help researchers locate resources for their investigational use. The database includes information about biospecimen banks and simple procurement services. The specimens and samples come from non-commercial, either NCI or non-NCI funded resources.
The database of Genotypes and Phenotypes (dbGaP) was developed to archive and distribute the results of studies that have investigated the interaction of genotype and phenotype. Such studies include genome-wide association studies, medical sequencing, molecular diagnostic assays, as well as associations between genotype and non-clinical traits.
The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) houses a series of databases which include GenBank for DNA sequences and PubMed, a bibliographic database for the biomedical literature. The website also provides various tools for data submission, download and analysis, and also a "Learn" section containing search functions for documents, training courses, and tutorials.
The International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories is an international forum that addresses the technical, legal, ethical, and managerial issues relevant to repositories of biological and environmental specimens.
NIDDK supports a wide range of medical research through grants to universities and other medical research institutions across the country. The Institute supports government scientists who conduct basic, translational, and clinical research across a broad spectrum of research topics and serious, chronic diseases and conditions related to the Institute's mission. NIDDK also provides scientific resources to scientists for use in their research, and holds meetings where scientists can collaborate with other leaders in their field.
