NCI Specimen Resource Locator - The NCI Specimen Resource Locator is a publicly searchable biospecimen resource database designed to help researchers locate resources for their investigational use. The database includes information about biospecimen banks and simple procurement services. The specimens and samples come from non-commercial, either NCI or non-NCI funded resources.
NCI Specimen Resource Locator - The International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories is an international forum that addresses the technical, legal, ethical, and managerial issues relevant to repositories of biological and environmental specimens.
Data Resources
NIH Open Domain-Specific Data Sharing Repositories - This list is maintained by the Trans-NIH BioMedical Informatics Coordinating Committee (BMIC) and includes NIH-supported domain-specific data repositories that make data accessible for reuse and are open for both submitting and accessing data, with emphasis on their domain specific topic(s).
Other NIH-supported Domain-Specific Resources - This list is maintained by the Trans-NIH BioMedical Informatics Coordinating Committee (BMIC) and includes NIH-supported domain-specific repositories that restrict data submission to a specific set of researchers, as well as those that limit who may access the data. This list also includes knowledgebases.
Generalist Repositories - NIH Office of Data Science Strategy developed the Generalist Repository Ecosystem Initiative (GREI) to increase NIH-funded data accessibility and findability. This list of generalist repositories is meant to supplement the domain-specific data repositories when investigators cannot locate a repository that aligns with their discipline or research questions.
NIDDK Information Network - NIDDK Information Network (dkNET) is a search portal that helps researchers find research resources relevant to their research and keep up to date on new tools, services and mandates to support robust and reproducible science. The portal includes access to large pools of data and research resources relevant to the mission of NIDDK. Research resources include reagents, organisms, software tools, databases and services.
The National Center for Biotechnology Information - The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) houses a series of databases which include GenBank for DNA sequences and PubMed, a bibliographic database for the biomedical literature. The website also provides various tools for data submission, download and analysis, and also a "Learn" section containing search functions for documents, training courses, and tutorials.
NIH Common Data Elements Repository - NIH Common Data Elements (CDE) Repository is an online, open access database that houses structured human and machine-readable definitions of data elements recommended or required by NIH Institutes and Centers. Researchers can export data elements from the repository, in addition to submitting their own CDE collections for NIH endorsement.
Grants & Funding
NIDDK Research & Funding for Scientists - NIDDK supports a wide range of medical research through grants to universities and other medical research institutions across the country. The Institute supports government scientists who conduct basic, translational, and clinical research across a broad spectrum of research topics and serious, chronic diseases and conditions related to the Institute's mission. NIDDK also provides scientific resources to scientists for use in their research, and holds meetings where scientists can collaborate with other leaders in their field.
NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing - NIH has issued a new Final NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing (effective January 25, 2023), which will require NIH funded researchers to prospectively submit a plan outlining how scientific data from their research will be managed and shared.
NIH Scientific Data Sharing - Information and resources regarding NIH’s Data Management and Sharing Policy, Genomic Data Sharing Policy, and accessing scientific and genomic data.
T1D Exchange - T1DExchange is a site designed to unite researchers, physicians and patients in real time using information and research data about Type 1 Diabetes. This patient centric website provides many resources including a clinic registry, a clinic network, two biobanks, and an online community for patients and caregivers to help focus research efforts.
