General Description

The NIDDK has established and tested 7 calibrators for quantification of antibodies against GAD and IA-2 into common NIDDK Units/ml. See Bonifacio et al, JCEM, 2010 for the harmonization protocol. These calibrators are used by NIDDK laboratories for NIDDK consortia measurement of islet autoantibodies. A second set of 7 calibrators was established for the community and is available to public and commercial laboratories for quantification of islet autoantibodies. A 1 ml aliquot of the 7 calibrators can be requested for the purpose of calibration of the standards in the lab.
