General Description

The African American Study of Kidney Disease and Hypertension Study Group (AASK) sought to understand the impacts of different antihypertensive treatments on the progression of renal insufficiency attributed to hypertension. Through further follow-up, the research sought to understand the long-term course of kidney function and risk factors for chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression in African Americans with hypertension-related CKD receiving recommended antihypertensive drug therapies within the setting of low blood pressure goals.
