The Familial Barrett's Esophagus Consortium was established in 1998 investigating evidence for familial aggregation of Barrett's esophagus, esophageal adenocarcinoma, or esophagogastric junctional adenocarcinoma. Research thus far has shown that there is evidence for familial aggregation; linkage analyses are in progress.
